The Amazing Beaches of Malaysia - Terengganu

Some of the most beautiful Beaches of Malaysia are found here in the state of Terengganu. Situated in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu has a strategic geographical location and is well known for its islands and beaches. The combined natural beauty of its islands and beaches make it a scenic state. Among the popular islands situated here are Pulau Redang, Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Kapas. All these islands provide lovely diving spots for tourists to explore the underwater world. I've listed some of the more well-known islands and beaches below. While the list may not be complete, I assure you I will continuously update it over time. Hope you enjoy reading about the "Beaches of Malaysia" as much as I have enjoyed writing about it!
Pulau Redang Marine Park
Situated approximately 50 km away from Kuala Terengganu is the Pulau Redang Marine Park. The marine park is made up of a group of 9 islands of various shapes and sizes, namely Pulau Ekor Tebu, Pulau Ling, Pulau Pinang, Pulau Paku Kecil, Pulau Paku Besar, Pulau Lima, Pulau Kerengga Besar, Pulau Kerangga kecil and Pulau Redang itself. Pulau Redang is the the largest island among the 8 other islands that make up the Marine Park. The Pulau Redang Marine Park is a popular marine park where tourists throng for underwater activities such as scuba diving and snorkeling. This paradise-like island is also perfect for swimming, jungle trekking, boating and canoeing. Pulau Redang Marine Park is without a doubt, the most popular and well-known island in Malaysia, attracting thousands of tourists all over the world. The Redang Archipelago is truly a gift sent from heaven. The waters surrounding these islands are teeming with marine life. About 500 species of living, breathing soft and hard corals create a wondrous seascape just below the white caps. These reef-building variety of corals provide shelter to a host of inhabitants - a myriad species of bivalves and fishes.
Redang Island is surrounded by crystal clear water, pearly white shores, a colorful array of spectacular marine life and is home to one of the world's most mature coral gardens. The park is arguably among the best diving spots in the world where marine life is protected and souvenir hunters are liable for prosecution. Chance encounter with the Green and Hawksbill turtle is common. These turtles drag themselves onto the white, soft, sandy beaches of Redang during the "egg-laying" season to lay their fertilised eggs into deep holes, painstakingly dug during the night. After depositing their eggs, they return to the sea, leaving their eggs to be incubated by the warm, soft, smooth white sands of the Redang beach.
Hailed for its clear blue waters, Redang is indeed an island paradise with a beautiful underwater world. There is a host of travel packages offered by the resorts here. Besides accomodation, these packages include activities such as diving, snorkeling, hiking, jungle trekking and an island tour. The best time to visit Redang is between April and October, before the rainy northeast monsoon starts blowing from November to March. Getting to Redang is simple. You must first get to the state's capital, Kuala Terengganu. If you're taking a flight from Kuala Lumpur, it'll take you about 40 minutes to reach, while a bus ride takes approximately eight hours. Your jumping-off point for Redang is Marang, a fishing village 15 km north of Kuala Terengganu. You'll take approximately 30 minutes by car to reach Marang Jetty from Kuala Terengganu and a further 45 minutes by speedboat to get to Redang. Redang is one of the most amazingly beautiful Beaches of Malaysia and therefore, it's definitely a "Must-Visit" when you're here!
