Johor Travel - Getting to Johor The Southern Gateway to Malaysia, is fairly easy, There are several ways to get there. You can either choose to get there by Air, by Bus, by Rail or you could drive yourself there if you want to.

Johor Travel - Getting there by Air

Johor is easily accessible by air via the Senai International Airport (previously known as the Sultan Ismail International Airport) which is located 28 km to the north-west of Johor Bahru, the capital of Johor. This airport is served by regional and national airlines including:

  • Malaysia Airlines

    • The national carrier flies several times daily between many cities in Malaysia and Johor Bahru. It is worth noting that prices to Johor Bahru are often much cheaper than to Singapore.

  • Air Asia

    • Asia's first "no-frills" airlines. If you book well in advance, the price of the airfare can be really rock bottom!

  • Riau Airlines

If you are flying in from overseas, you can get to Senai International Airport via Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu (Sabah) or Kuching (Sarawak). The airport also connects Johor Bahru to Bayan Lepas International Airport in Penang.

Once you reach the Senai Airport, you can take the taxi to the city centre. The taxi ticketing counter is located on the ground floor of the airport and they are available 24 hours daily. The fare from the airport to the city centre is RM 25.00 per person.

Alternatively, you could also rent a car and drive yourself to the city centre. Some of the car rental companies at Senai International Airport include:

Johor Travel - Getting there by Bus

If you're coming from Kuala Lumpur, there are several bus operators serving the Kuala Lumpur - Johor Bahru route. Among them are the Transnasional coach services and the Plusliner coach services. The Coaches of these two bus operators depart Kuala Lumpur from the Puduraya Bus Station and arrive Johor Bahru at the Larkin Bus Terminal which is situated in northern Johor Bahru. The journey from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru takes approximately 6 hours.

The time table for the Transnasional Ekspres is as follows:

Johor Travel - Getting there by Rail

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM), Malaysia's rail service provider provides train services with stops at the Johor Bahru Railway Station at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak. Johor Travel - Getting there by Road

If you are the type who likes adventures and explorations, you can choose to drive yourself to Johor. With Malaysia's beautiful tolled highways, getting to Johor from Kuala Lumpur is extremely convenient.

First, you need to head south towards Seremban via the KL-Seremban highway. Keep driving south and you will be passing through exits like Seremban Port Dickson, Seremban Senawang, Pedas/Linggi, Ayer Keroh, Tangkak, Pagoh, Yong Peng, Simpang Renggam and Senai before finally reaching Johor Bahru.
