One of the most enjoyable Langkawi attractions that you shouldn't miss when you're here is the Langkawi Cable Car ride. Situated at Gunung Machincang, the Langkawi Cable Car is built approximately 708 meters above sea level.

The cable car will bring you all the way up to a height of 710 meters traveling a distance of 2.2 km at an incline of 42°.

On your way up, you'd be able to catch panoramic views of the beautiful, serene Andaman Sea and the legendary Gunung Machincang.

You'd also be able to enjoy the breathtaking view of the lush green rain forests that surround the Island and also the pristine islands that make up the Langkawi archipelago.

Another thing you should look out for on your way up is the unique geological rock formations of the legendary mountain that has been around for the past 450 million years.

The cable car's top station is situated at the peak, where the temperature is about 4°C - 5°C. (I would recommend that you bring a sweater or some warm clothing with you. You wouldn't want to catch a cold up there and ruin your vacation at this beautiful island, would you?)

There are viewing platforms up here that allow visitors to enjoy the amazingly beautiful panoramic views from the Island all the way up to Southern Thailand.

The Langkawi Cable Car is situated at the Oriental Village, Jalan Telaga Tujuh, which is about 30 minutes drive from Kuah town and only about 15 minutes drive from the Langkawi International Airport.

It is operational from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday - Thursday and public holidays, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday (subject to weather conditions).

The fare for the cable car ride is RM 25.00 for adults and RM 18.00 for children (3 - 12 years old).

The Cable Car Ride to the top of the legendary mountain, Gunung Machincang is definitely a "Must-Do!!" when you're here in Langkawi. It may very well be one of the most exhilarating experiences you've ever had!
