The Petronas Twin Towers, A Magnificent Piece of Architectural Design

The Petronas Twin Towers (or more commonly known as the Twin Towers) is the tallest twin towers in the world. It is also the second and third tallest singular towers in the world, standing adjacent to one of the busiest shopping malls in Malaysia, the Suria KLCC. In my personal opinion, the Twin Towers is also one of the most beautiful works of architecture in the world. The 88-floor Twin Towers stands majestically at 452 meters high, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. I still remember seeing it for the first time when it was just completed in 1998. No words can ever describe how beautiful it was when I first set eyes on this magnificent work of architecture. I guess the only word that I could use to describe it would be "Awesome!". The Twin Towers (which were designed by Cesar Pelli, an Argentine-American architect) are constructed largely of reinforced concrete, with a steel and glass facade designed to resemble motifs found in Islamic art, a symbol of Malaysia's official religion, Islam. The Petronas Twin Towers is connected via a Skyway on the 41st and 42nd floors. The Skyway is the highest 2-story bridge in the world. The bridge connecting the two towers is 170 meters above ground and is 58 meters long. I must say, the view from the Skyway is absolutely Amazing! You really have to see it for yourself to truly appreciate the amazing scenery from 170 meters above ground.
The Skyway is open to all visitors, but free passes, which are limited to 1700 people per day, must be obtained on a first-come first-served basis. The Skyway is closed on Mondays and public holidays, so plan your trip accordingly. Situated just outside the Twin Towers, is the KLCC Park. Conceptualized by the late Roberto Burle Marx, the KLCC Park features a fountain pool, a wading pool, patterned footpath, sculptures, murals and a jogging track. The park is normally crowded with people during the weekends. Children can be seen running in all directions, enjoying themselves in the wading pool while their parents sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery of the park. The park is open 24 hours and admission is free. Just below the magnificent Twin Towers, we have one of the busiest and most popular shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur, the Suria KLCC. Shoppers can shop till they drop here. The Suria KLCC has 6 levels of retail outlets. International brand names such as Gucci, Versace, Prada, Chanel, Salvatore Ferragamo and Hugo Boss fill the stores windows and promotional spaces that are found all over the mall. From clothings to shoes to handbags to watches to books, you can find almost everything here. Suria KLCC truly is a shopper's Paradise!
To get there, simply take the Putra LRT to the KLCC station. Once you reach the station, you will see sign boards directing you to Suria KLCC.
So, if you do visit Malaysia, the Twin Towers is definitely a Must-See! In short, I think it would be fair for me to say that if you haven't been to the Petronas Twin Towers when you're in Malaysia, you haven't been to Malaysia!
