Sabah is the second largest state in the country after the state of Sarawak. It is located on the northern portion of the island of Borneo. Sabah used to be a British Crown colony known as the North Borneo prior to joining the Federation of Malaya, which later became the country known today as Malaysia. Its state capital is Kota Kinabalu, formerly known as Jesselton.

Sabah is known as the Land Below The Wind because of its location being just south of the typhoon prone region around Philippines.

Sabah, with its heterogeneous and culturally diverse population has more than 30 different ethnic races living together peacefully, harmoniously and at the same time preserving their own culture, traditions, festivals and customs.

Among some of the indigenous ethnic groups living here are the Kadazan-Dusun, Murut, Bajau, Kwijau, Kedayan and many others. More than 80 local dialects are spoken here.

Sabah is a land rich in culture, with traditions and customs that have been passed down through generations. When you visit Sabah Malaysia, you would be overcome by a sense of awe from experiencing the depth of their culture, traditions and customs.

Sabah is home to the highest mountain in Malaysia, Mount Kinabalu. This mountain is also the second highest mountain in Southeast Asia with an altitude of 4,101 meters (13,455 ft). So, if you want to challenge yourself physically, this mountain is here for you to conquer.

I must say that when you reach the top of Mount Kinabalu, the panoramic view from the mountain top is absolutely breath-taking!

On the other hand, if you want to trek the ancient rain forests of Sabah, the Kinabalu National Park is here for you to explore.

If you want to look at primates at close range, the world's biggest Orang Utan Sanctuary which covers about 4300 hectares of virgin jungle is located here.

And of course, if you want to swim with the fish, or the sea turtles, the best and most scenic diving spots in Malaysia are situated here in Sabah. Places like Pulau Sipadan, Tunku Abdul Rahman Park and the Underwater Caves are truly a diver's paradise.
