Sarawak Travel - Getting to Sarawak
The Land of the Hornbills

Kuching International Airport

Sarawak Travel - If you're coming to Sarawak from overseas, the only way to get there is by Air because Borneo Island is separated from the rest of the land mass by sea.

Sarawak Travel - Getting there by Air (Malaysia)

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) offers daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching. MAS flights also connect Kuching with Bintulu, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Labuan, Miri, Penang and Sibu. To find out the schedule and the air fares of MAS flights, kindly visit the Malaysia Airlines website by Clicking Here.

Air Asia, Asia's first "no-frills" airline also offers daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kuching. If you want to enjoy cheap rates, I would recommend that you book early (at least 2 months early). The savings can be quite significant. To check the schedule and air fares of Air Asia flights, kindly visit the Air Asia website by Clicking Here.

These airlines fly straight into the Kuching International Airport, which is situated approximately 11 km south of the city of Kuching.

Sarawak Travel - Getting there by Air (International)

If you're coming from Singapore, you can either choose to fly into Kuching by Malaysia Airlines (MAS) or Singapore Airlines (SIA) as both the airlines operate frequent flights between Kuching and Singapore.

If you're coming from Brunei (Bandar Seri Begawan), you can either choose to fly into Kuching by Malaysia Airlines (MAS) or Royal Brunei Airlines as both the airlines offer daily flights into Kuching.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) also flies from Kuching International Airport to Pontianak, Indonesia three times weekly, to Taipei via Manila twice weekly, and to Perth and Tokyo weekly. Connections to other destinations are via Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Bandar Seri Begawan, Hong Kong or Singapore.

Departure tax in Kuching International Airport is Ringgit Malaysia (RM) 5 for domestic flights, RM 20 for Brunei and Pontianak and RM 40 for International flights.

Once you reach the Kuching International Airport, there are a few ways to get to Kuching City Centre. You can either take the Bus, Taxi, or you could rent a car and drive yourself to the City Centre.
