Getting to Terengganu

Terengganu Travel - Getting to Terengganu, The Land Where Nature Embraces Heritage, is rather easy. There are several ways to get there. you can either choose to get there by Air, by Bus or You could drive yourself there.

Terengganu Travel - Getting there by Air

If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia offer daily flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to the Sultan Mahmud Airport which is situated about 18 km from Kuala Terengganu. The journey by air takes approximately 45 minutes.

If your main intention of getting to Terengganu is to visit Pulau Redang (Redang Island), you don't have to fly into the Sultan Mahmud Airport. Instead, you can choose to fly by Berjaya Air, which operates flights from Subang Airport in Kuala Lumpur straight into the Redang Airport in Redang Island. The journey takes approximately 1 hour. Terengganu Travel - Getting there by Bus

There are Express coaches departing daily from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Johor Bahru and Penang to Kuala Terengganu. It takes approximately 7 hours to get to Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur, 9 hours 30 mins from Singapore, 9 hours from Johor Bahru and 9 hours from Penang. There will be 2 stops or more along the journey for light refreshments and toilet visits.

There are a few choices of coaches you can choose from to get to Kuala Terengganu in comfort. From the VIP coaches which have 24 to 32 seats in a 2-1 seating arrangement to the 36 to 40 seater coaches in a 2-2 seating arrangement, your comfort is definitely assured. The seats are spacious with plenty of leg room to ensure your comfort during the long journey.

If you are traveling at night, I would highly recommend that you bring some sweaters or warm clothing as it can be quite chilly at night. It would also be good if you brought some small soft pillows to help you sleep more comfortably during your journey.

Terengganu Travel - Getting there by Road

An alternative to flying and taking the bus would be to drive yourself to Terengganu. Besides getting to spend more time with your friends and loved ones, you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery, the fresh air and the unpolluted countryside. Driving along the coastal roads in Terengganu would also allow you to enjoy the scenery of the beautiful, sandy beaches and the warm waters of the South China Sea.

If you are coming from Kuala Lumpur, the easiest way to get to Kuala Terengganu is to head towards the Karak Highway. Keep on driving until you reach the Kuantan Exit. From there, join the coastal road to get to Terengganu. Along the way, you will be passing by places like Kemaman, Kertih, Dungun, Kampung Mercang and Marang before finally reaching Kuala Terengganu.

If you are coming from Singapore or Johor Bahru, the easiest way to get to Kuala Terengganu is to head towards the North-South Highway and exit at the Yong Peng Exit. From there, drive towards Kuantan. Along the way, you will be passing by places like Labis, Segamat, Patah Keladan, Muadzam Shah before finally reaching Kuantan. From there, join the coastal road to get to Terengganu. As mentioned earlier, you will be passing by places like Kemaman, Kertih, Dungun, Kampung Mercang and Marang before finally reaching the capital of Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu.

If you are coming from Penang, the easiest way to get to Kuala Terengganu is to drive along the East-West Highway and head towards Gerik (Grik). From Gerik, drive towards Jerteh. Along the way, you will be passing by places like Batu Melintang, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh before finally reaching Jerteh. From Jerteh (also spelt Jertih), keep on driving and you will be passing by places like Kampung Tok Dol, Bandar Permaisuri and Kampung Rahmat before reaching Kuala Terengganu.
